EDITORIAL, Forms of politics, pp. 5-8

Issues of past editorials on belonging and political responsibility are here reconsidered in order to question "what political action is today, and which forms of politics we recognize as such, that is, as effectual in determining conditions of liberty".

A criticism is expressed of the stances taken towards the theory of sexual difference, usually wavering between pure jargon mimesis and prejudiced hostility; the limits are recognized of negotiation as well as of interior change if they are practiced as an aim in themselves; the significant relationship between women is identified as the form giving visibility to forces and energies shifting from the world of uniqueness to that of female gender.

PUTINO Angela, Warrior woman, pp. 9-14

The author analyses the cultural context necessary to women's liberation. This process implies: the rejection of a common idea of women that denies the sexual difference: the foundation of one's own history; the relationship within the women's world; the escaping from the domain of imposed laws; action in the social context without being determined by it. The woman symbol for the author is Pentesilea, the warrior woman, able to escape the given war system.

SARASINI Bia, Excellent individual woman, pp. 15-18

Bia Sarasini maintains that the only political result of the women's movement is a number of women provided with excessive personalities; that is a political group which has spoiled rather than cumulated the collective richness of the experience of consciousness-raising groups, since it merely records the conflicts among women unable to prospect political outlets.

STELLA Rosetta, Muting in progress, pp. 19-30

The author examines two theorical and practical problems specific to Udi - Unione Donne Italiane -, the oldest women's organization in Italy. The problems are: the relationship to the Italian Comunist Party: women's power and power among women. The XI Conference of Udi in 1982 decided in favour of a complete autonomy and identified the need for a separatist women organization.

Now, after the XII Conference (1988), the author goes beyond that, focusing on the necessity of individual responsibility in the making of the organization's political project. Moreover the author identifies the need to acknowledge the new forms of power in Udi despite the absence of the old hierarchical structure.

CIXOUS Hélène, Clarice Lispector's approach, pp. 35-45

Referring to the most famous work by the Brazilian author Clarice Lispector, Hélène Cixous demands to be read according to the "Passion secondum Clarice Lispector": this experience is expected to be an intense intellectual adventure. Hélène Cixuos reads Lispector's writings as a mean to learn "the art of approach", using a strongly metaphorical language.
