(introduced by BONO Paola), Lucrezia: ancient history, an old story, 1996,
n. 29, pp. 26-40
In this section of the journal, a feminist scholar of some standing [Paola Bono] introduces a younger scholar; this paper, by a very young scholar indeed (Giovannoni is only 23 and still an undergraduate), analyses Shakespeare's The Rape of Lucrece making use of both a linguistic and an historicist perspective.
The author highlights the construction of femininity through metaphors (wax, soil) assigning women a subordinate position, and she links such a construction to the social and legal organisation of the Roman world.

Journey, 2003, n. 1, pp. 53-61
Mixing personal memories and general observations and reflections, the author looks at the ways in which her geographical imaginary has changed after her mother's death. She goes on to tell her story as the story of a journey. This, of course, is a frequent metaphor in autobiography, but here the journey is also literal.
In fact, leaving home is always in some measure both a literal and metaphorical exit from the constraints of parental and cultural bonds; for her, going overseas meant both the physical enactment of a need to escape and a metaphorical vehicle for internal displacements. In a way, the goal of the author's memoir is to produce a narrative that would tell the story of her coming to writing.

(introduced by FORTINI Laura), Alba de Céspedes exercises in female freedom, 2005, n. 2-3, pp. 58-83
Giovannoni draws upon her research in some hither to untapped archival sources to underline the search for freedom of this significant Italian writer; in spite of fascist censure, Alba de Céspedes never gave up such a search, which also guided her in her activity after the end of World War Two, for example in her contributions to the magazine Epoca.
